Election 2011: the full results - Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland

SCOTTISH PARLIAMENT

THE devolved Scottish Parliament is responsible for making primary legislation in areas such as education, health, agriculture and justice, among others. The Parliament also has the ability to alter income tax in Scotland by up to 3p in the pound either way.
73 MSPs are elected by the First Past the Post system on a Constituency basis with the remaining 56 MSPs elected on a List basis in which Scotland is divided into eight sub-regions and the d'Hondt method is used.

WELSH ASSEMBLY

FOLLOWING a referedum on 3 March 2011, the Welsh Assemby now has the power to make primary legislation in areas such as education, health, agriculture and many other areas.
40 AMs (Assembly Members) are elected on a Constituency basis via the First Past the Post system while the remaining 20 AMs are elected on a List basis in which Wales is divided into five sub-regions and the d'Hondt method is used.

NORTHERN IRISH ASSEMBLY

THE Northern Ireland Assembly has the authority to legislate in a field of competences known as "transferred matters" such as education, health, agriculture and justice.
108 MLAs (Members of the Legislative Assembly) are elected from 18 six-member constituencies under the single transferable vote form of proportional representation.
